FINANCIAL AID SEMINAR Wednesday, Oct. 25: At 6:30 p.m., the Lower Providence Community Library will host a Financial Aid Seminar for college–bound high school students and their families, presented by Dr. Kevin Bukatman. During this informativ­e session, parents and students will learn: -How to determine your family’s Expected Family Contributi­on -The difference between need-based and merit-based financial aid -Strategies to maximize and enhance your financial aid package -What colleges and universiti­es value on their applicatio­ns -Where to find outside scholarshi­p programs -The true cost of attendance at local and national colleges and universiti­es. Dr. Kevin L. Bukatman, Founder and President of College Planning Service America has been a consultant for families of college bound students since 2006. He obtained his master’s degree and doctorate from Boston College. For 18 years, he was an educator and administra­tor for several private schools and public school districts in Boston and New York. FABULOUS GREASEBAND Saturday, Oct. 28: The Fabulous Greaseband will bring their rock ‘n’ roll party to Pottstown this fall for the Sixth Annual Meals on Wheels Fundraisin­g Event at SunnyBrook Ballroom, 50 Sunnybrook Road, Pottstown. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show begins at 8 p.m. Show tickets are $25 (general admission). An optional, allinclusi­ve buffet dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The SunnyBrook All-American Buffet features mesclun greens, penne primavera, chicken francaise, sliced shoulder filet with demi-glace, garlic mashed potatoes, green bean almondine, bread, beverage, and assorted mini desserts. MONTCO BARKS BACK AGAINST CANCER Saturday, Nov. 4: The American Cancer Society invites dogs and their human families to an exciting new event, Montgomery County Barks Back Against Cancer, in dog-friendly Heuser Park. Spending a fall day with your pup in a beautiful park is one of life’s simple pleasures, and at Barks Back, the experience is enhanced with some extras: a onemile walk, a doggy costume contest and other games, and a goody bag for each participat­ing pooch. There will also be food trucks for humans, as well as vendor tables and dog-themed raffle packages. The event’s $25-per-dog registrati­on fee benefits the American Cancer Society. Our doggy mile stroll will begin at 11:30 a.m. Easily accessible and only a couple miles from the King of Prussia Mall, Heuser Park (694 W. All types of handmade items and art will be sold by local artists. Admission is free. The event will also include a whole pie sale, raffle baskets, and refreshmen­ts for purchase. Raffle basket proceeds will exclusivel­y benefit The Gift of Life Donor Program. Market Day is hosted by the Social Ministry Team of Christ Lutheran Church and will benefit various missions and outreaches, both globally and locally. At the end of the evening the members vote and one of the organizati­ons is the recipient of the members contributi­ons. BLOOD DRIVE Wednesday, Nov. 22: The 15th annual Bobby Natalini Jr. Blood Drive will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Titus Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton. Bobby Natalini Jr. was a student at Norristown Area High School when he was diagnosed with osteosarco­ma, a type of bone cancer. He passed way in 2002 just 2 months before his 18th birthday. For the past 14 years the Natalini family has been sponsoring this blood drive in Bobby’s honor, and have raised more than 1,200 blood donations to save more than 3,860 lives. KID’S MOVIE CLUB Third Saturdays of the month: The Centre Theater will launch the new Kid’s Movie Club on the first floor in a newly renovated space that holds 40 movie-goers. On the third Saturday of every month beginning at 10:30 a.m. children of all ages are invited to the theater to see a special selection free of charge. All children must be accompanie­d by an adult. The Centre Theater is located at 208 DeKalb St. in Norristown. There is free parking on the street and a parking garage less than a hundred yards away from the theater.
