John W. Bolger Jr. of King of Prussia
John W. Bolger, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at his residence of 65 years in King of Prussia, PA. He was 89. Mr. Bolger was a founding member of the Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, PA. He was a master electrician who managed many high profile projects, and an officer of his union, IBEW Local 380. Among many of his achievements in life, he was the first basketball coach at his church, and a post-WWII veteran.
John was family centric and focused on raising his 6 children and nurturing his 13 grandchildren. John matted and framed his beloved Audrey’s artwork in his retirement. Throughout the years John spent much of his time working around the house with neighbor Rich, golfing with his friend Hughie and weekly breakfast meetings with fellow retirees. He embraced technology and continuous improvement.
Born in Norristown, PA on March 3, 1928, he was a son of the late John W. Bolger Sr. and Rose McGee. He was the husband of the late Helen “Audrey” Bolger nee McDade, who passed away in 2016. Surviving is his loving family including his six children, Rosemary (Roland) BolgerFindlay of Camden, ME, John W. (Brenda) Bolger, III of Blue Bell, PA, Patrick (Peggy) Bolger of Chester Springs, PA, Lisa (Shawn) McComb of Franklin, WI, Jeanne (Royal) Cole of Castle Rock, CO, and James (Eileen) Bolger of Yardley, PA; thirteen grandchildren: Marybeth Sisti, Heather Buchma, John Bolger, Timothy Bolger, Nathaniel, Kyle, and Garrett McComb, Ryan, Laura and Julia Cole, Allison Sweeney, and Kieran and Lindsay Bolger; and two great- grandchildren: Grace Buchma and Cohen Sweeney. Also surviving is a brother, Neil (Bonnie) Bolger and a sister Molly Trainer. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bolger and a sister, Joan Judd.
Relatives & friends are invited to John’s Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Thursday, October 26 at 10:30 am. His family will receive friends and guests on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the Bacchi Funeral Home, 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 and from 9 to 10:15 AM at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in King of Prussia, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to either the Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA or to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C., 20090-6011 (www. alz.org).
