Mount 2nd, La Salle 5th at PIAA Champs
Olivia Wirsching paced the Mount St. Joseph golf team with a 12-over 84 as the Magic took second place in the PIAA Girls Class AAA team championship Wednesday at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
Mount finished with a team total for 258, edging out Erie Villa Maria’s 259 for silver as the Magic placed in the state top three for the fifth consecutive season. North Allegheny took first with a score for 240.
Clare Gimpel carded a 14-over 86 for Mount St. Joseph while Brianna Mahon had a 16-over 88. Maya Trujillo shot a 20-over 92 and Lia Priolo had a 22-over 94.
In Boys Class AAA, La Salle took fifth place with a score of 310. Unionville won the state title with a 292.
Steve Lorenzo led the Explorers with a 5-over 76 while Buddy Hansen, Frank Gregor and Matt Law also shot 7-over 78. Tim Lorenzo added a 12-over 83.

CB SOUTH 2, METHACTON 1 (OT) » Methacton’s first loss ended its season as Kasey Dietzel’s goal on a penalty stroke with five seconds left in overtime gave No. 15 Central Bucks South an upset win over the No. 2 Warriors in the District 1-3A second round.
Emily Owens scored on a penalty stroke for Methacton (20-1).
Casey Reilley had the first goal while Jillian Heilig made 17 saves for the Titans (12-7-1), who face Owen J. Roberts or Downingtown East in the quarterfinals Friday.
