Upper Merion Area School District
At-large school board member Eric Elvanian was re-elected, defeating Michelle Barainyak with 59 percent of the vote. Democratic candidate Brett Olson won in Region 1, and Melissa Galvan won in Region 2, both by similar margins. Maura Buri ran unopposed in Region 3.
Upper Merion Township
Jennifer D’Amato Dow, Rosemary Northcutt and Adam Schupak appeared on both the Republican and Democratic sides of the ballot and were the top three vote getters vying for four spots on the school board. The final open seat on the board will be filled by Eunice Franklin-Becker, whose name appeared on the Democratic ballot.
Whitemarsh
Democrat Michael Drossner retained his seat and on the township’s board of supervisors and will be joined by Francis McCusker Jr., also a Democrat. Each of them garnered more than 32 percent of the vote to defeat the Republican opposition.
The two open seats on the Lower Provience Board of Supervisors were won by incumbent Vice Chairman Jason Sorgini and Democrat Gary Neights. Michael Deal ran unopposed for tax collector. And Republican candidate Jonathan Perrone edged out Democrat Steven Burda for auditor.
The county website indicated a turnout of approximately 30 to 35 percent of eligible voters for most races.
