Holy Cross announces Neumann Scholarship winners
Sixth, seventh and eight graders of Holy Cross Regional Catholic School gathered on Nov. 8 for a special assembly where it was announced that not one, but two deserving Holy Cross students — 8th graders Kelly O’Connor and Anna Patti — were the recipients of prestigious Neumann Scholarships. Tom Riley, vice president for strategy of the Connelly Foundation was on hand to present the scholarships to the students. Monsignor Michael McCulken, pastor of St. Eleanor Parish in Collegeville, and Father Tadeusz Gorka, pastor of Sacred Heart parish in Royersford, were also present to offer their congratulations to their regional school students and faculty.
A Neumann Scholarship is a four-year full scholarship to any Philadelphia Archdiocesan High School. Approximately 1,000 students sit for the Neumann Scholarship test each year, but only 40 scholarships are awarded, across the entire Archdiocese. With two more Neumann winners this year, Holy Cross has now had five scholarship winners in the last six years. — Submitted by Lauren Machita
