Arbour Square’s watercolor class enriches resident’s life

-

When Diane Rathschmidt, 82, stepped up to the easel for the first-time during a watercolor class held at Arbour Square, she didn’t realize she would discover a talent and passion for the arts. Rathschmidt admits she was overcome with nervousness during her first attempts but found the overall experience soothing thanks to the patience of her instructor, Bucks County artists Louisa Wismer.

Wismer teaches all media and enjoys seeing students explore and experiment with color and different mediums to discover their hidden talents. Wismer teaches Watercolor 101 at Arbour Square twice a month.

Rathschmidt finds the watercolor class easy to follow and continues her newfound hobby outside the classroom as she set up her own painting area in her apartment to accommodate her passion. Recently, Rathschmidt entered her painting into Arbour Square’s annual Artisan Exhibit, where residents and staff members showcased their collection of artworks. — Submitted by Arbour Square
