John D. Pierce Sr., formerly of Plymouth Meeting

John “Jack” D. Pierce Sr., formerly of Plymouth Meeting, passed on peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, November 10, at the age of 94.

Born in Philadelph­ia, Jack was the beloved son of the late William and Edith (McGuigan) Pierce. Jack grew up in Philadelph­ia and was a graduate of West Philadelph­ia Catholic High School for Boys (West Catholic), Class of 1941.

Jack was employed by Nationwide Insurance for 38 years.

Jack was the devoted husband for 59+ years to the love of his life, Gina, who passed away in 2015.

Jack was the beloved father of four children, Cynthia Reale and spouse Albino of Blue Bell, PA; John Pierce Jr. and spouse Lorraine of Havertown, PA; David Pierce and spouse Sandra of Doylestown, PA; and the late Gina M. Pierce.

Jack was the beloved brother to the late Francis and William Pierce.

Jack was the devoted grandfathe­r to Michael Reale, Adam Reale, Justin Pierce, Eric Reale, Christina Reale, Joshua Pierce, David Pierce, Zachary Pierce and Jack Pierce.

Jack was a devout Roman Catholic and a parishione­r of St. Paul’s Church of East Norriton, PA.

Jack loved life and all it had to offer him and his family. He had an unmatched zest for travel with extensive traveling to numerous locations throughout the United States and Europe. Learning new things through travel and reading brought him tremendous joy. He especially enjoyed the arts, in particular, European and ancient Egyptian art and history. He would never miss an opportunit­y to increase his knowledge or gain a memorable experience for him and his family. Jack will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, his remarkable kindness, and his big kid approach to life.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 22, at 9:30am at St. Paul’s RC Church, 2007 New Hope St., East Norriton, PA 19401, followed by Jack’s Mass of Christian burial at 10:30am. Interment is at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Norristown PA.
