Anne M. McNelis of Blue Bell, formerly of Audubon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2017, at her home with her family by her side. She was 71 years old. Born July 10, 1946 in Conshohock­en, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Anne (nee Poysden) Carr, and the beloved wife of Kenneth E. McNelis, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.

Anne had a real passion for education, and she dedicated her life to the field as a teacher. She worked as a teacher for Whitemarsh Jr. High School and St. Mary of the Assumption in Phoenixvil­le, taught first grade at St. Teresa of Avila, and also Chesterbro­ok Academy in Audubon. Anne was very involved at St. Teresa, as a Eucharisti­c minister and a member of the Over 55 Club and worked on the Crafts Committee for the Bazaar. Her hobbies included cross-stitch and knitting, gardening, traveling, reading and playing mah-jongg. She was proud to be a transplant recipient, first in 1995 for her kidney, then in 2008 for her liver. Anne served on the board for several organizati­ons including Norristown Garden Club, Delaware Valley Iris Society and the Delaware Valley Daylily Society. While living at Normandy Farm Estates, she was involved with Project Linus, the Crafts Group, and was a Soup Sale member and a lector for church services.

In addition to her husband, Ken, Anne is survived by her son, Kenneth W. McNelis; her brother William Carr (Wincy); and her four sisters, Maureen Scally (Joseph), Mary Ollman (Richard), Kathy Decara (William) and Christine Carr; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert J. Carr, husband of Joan Carr.

Relatives and friends are invited to Anne’s Life Celebratio­n on Tuesday November 28, from 7 to 9 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 W. Germantown Pike, and again on Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:45 AM followed by her funeral Mass beginning at 10 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1260 South Trooper Rd., Norristown, PA. Interment will be at Limerick Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s name can be made to Sisters of St. Joseph Guild PO Box 36, Flourtown, PA 19031.
