EAST WHITELAND » Helping to bring the indoor cycling and boxing trend to Chester County is REVive Studio, a new fitness center that just opened its doors near Malvern. The Lancaster Avenue studio is open to men and women and offers classes in spinning, boxing, TRX Suspension Training and fusion classes.

Owners Lauren Tornetta, Kayla Stauffer and Jodi Rosenbloom believe in the core values of what “Revive” means: to give new strength and energy and regain life. The women initially met while taking a spinning class together. They quickly bonded over their shared passion of music and exercise, noting the music helped drive their motivation to work out.

“What makes us a little bit different is we are rhythmic based. Everything we do with the spin is to the beat of the music. We incorporate that into our boxing style as well,” said Tornetta.

The indoor rhythmic spin classes combine upper body choreography, core work, and hand weights. All movements are done to the beat of high-energy music meant to inspire and motivate.

“We have a lot of men who spin too. It’s very challenging. A lot of times they come in here thinking it will be easy, and they leave very surprised. It keeps them coming back,” Stauffer said.

Open seven days a week, classes are held throughout the day, beginning at 5:45 am. The studio also offers express classes during the lunch hour to accommodate working professionals in the area. Additionally, there are bathrooms with showers.

After looking at different locations in Chester County, the women decided Malvern would be the perfect spot to open the studio.

“We saw a need here,” said Tornetta “We scoured the area. We wanted to create our own niche. When looked within 15 miles, this location was great. This particular area, with all the new housing, is growing. The space alone, we loved it.”

The boxing classes, taught by male instructors, offer a high-intensity boxing class combining classic punches – like jab, cross, hook, and uppercut- partner work, core work, and strength circuits. The class offers an intense cardio workout.

“It’s a workout that not a lot of people know about,” said Stauffer. “It’s not something that’s offered around here, at least very frequently. It’s the mind-body connection and boxing is something that releases a lot of stress.”

Stauffer continued, “We’re here to have people really find their strength. That’s what we believe in. Getting people out of their comfort zones. Boxing is something that not a lot of people do, and they come in here and they love it. We keep it light and fun. It’s also rhythmic, so you’re punching to the beat of the music. It’s also a really challenging workout.”

“There’s something about putting on the gloves. It’s empowering. It gives confidence and you walk out with strength. We’re not a gym that’s training fighters,” Tornetta added.

TRX Suspension Training is another popular trend is showing up gyms. The studio offers 45-min suspension training class that uses body weight to develop strength, flexibility, and balance. The use of functional movements and dynamic positions will tone the entire body, with a constant focus on the core.

“Some people don’t like to work out. Here, we’ve created something that people really look forward to. You lose yourself, you’re not even looking at the clock because you’re having so much fun. Before you know it, it’s over. You feel stronger,” said Stauffer.

Being busy mothers themselves, the women decided it was important to include a daycare room in the studio with supervised childcare, seven days a week.

“That’s a big part of who we are and what we want to mutually support. The children will be watched by their own separate staff the entire time. It’s a very kid-friendly playroom with a TV and games. It’s very fun” Stauffer remarked. – On the web: revivestudiopa.com
