Police: Suspects posed as electricians

-

UPPER PROVIDENCE » Police are trying to identify several suspects who reportedly entered a township home posing as electricians.

Police received a call on Jan. 12 around 5 p.m. for a suspicious persons incident on the 300 block of Woodlyn Drive.

An elderly homeowner and the homeowner’s daughter reported two men came to the door and told them they were installing a new electric line and needed to come inside. The men were described as being pushy as they entered the home. The homeowner and daughter accompanied the two men to the basement, where they proceeded to turn the power off to the house at the breaker box, police said.

After the power was turned off, the daughter heard someone walking around upstairs. They went upstairs to find a third male inside, and then all three men abruptly left the residence without saying anything. After the men left, several drawers throughout the home were found to have been opened and gone through, according to police.

It is unknown at this point if anything was stolen.

One of the men was described as wearing a red jacket that had fluorescent markings.

Police said their vehicle is a newer model grey Toyota Tundra with matching cap, tinted front windows and it was last seen with a possible spare tire or rim on the driver’s side front. Police have posted video of the suspected video on their Facebook page.

Police are asking that anyone who is able to identify additional information contact Detective Eric J. Smith at 484-391-2308 or via email at: 026smi@uprovmontco.org.
