Do you know a hero?
in need,” RSVP Executive Director Michele Moll said. “Heroic actions can be small acts that truly helps someone who really needs that hand up.”
During RSVP’s two upcoming volunteer recognition events, where RSVP heroes (volunteers) are celebrated, Citadel will present the second annual Community Hero Award, nominated by the public, who exemplifies selfless acts of heroism.
The public is invited to nominate their hero. Categories for nominations include: • Emergency responder • School or after-school volunteer
• Volunteer working with seniors • Good samaritan Nomination forms and award details can be found on rsvpmc.org. Forms can also be found in Citadel bank branches along with a ballot box. Nominations for Montgomery County heroes are being accepted through April 15, and nominations for either Delaware or Chester County heroes run March 1 through May 15.
RSVP is always recruiting volunteers to become the next heroes. The public and current volunteers are encouraged to attend a volunteer information session to hear about opportunities, share stories and learn where needs are the greatest. Sessions are regularly scheduled throughout Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. For a listing of locations and dates, visit rsvpmc.org or call 610-834-1040 ext. 123.
RSVP is a multi-service nonprofit that has been providing meaningful volunteer opportunities to community members for 45 years. As a result, RSVP is intensely aware of the needs within communities through strong partnerships with more than 200 nonprofits that consistently need support and expertise from volunteers, a need that is constantly growing.
Several years ago, RSVP began providing employee volunteer opportunities for corporations like Citadel that have a keen interest in connecting with the communities where their employees live and work through socially responsible volunteer projects.
Corporate projects might include gift wrapping picture books for disadvantaged preschool children, decorating tote bags to send home with preschoolers, making no-sew fleece scarves for low-income seniors or blankets for newborns, a pen-pal project that pairs corporate employees with third grade students, helping to bridge the generations and forge new friendships. RSVP has created an innovative virtual tutoring program to support high school students and veterans hoping to return to college or improve their employment opportunities. The program includes a STEM component that utilizes the skills of corporate employees to inspire and encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, math or the arts.
