Fire police volunteers recognized for 50 years of service

Bob Landis

Robert S. “Bob” Landis of the Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, Station 83, has been a member of the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Police Associatio­n for 50 years, since 1968.

Bob was elected into the Department in February 1960, just a few months after the Department was founded. For many years Bob has served with the Worcester Volunteer Fire Department Fire Police as Sargent and Corporal. Due to health reasons, he recently stepped-down as an active officer, but still attends business meetings and fire schools.

During his working years, Bob was a draftsman.

Bob and his wife, Peg, still reside in Worcester Township.

Charles R. Lahner

As a member of the Flourtown Fire Co., No. 6, Charles is celebratin­g his 50th year with the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Police and the Pennsylvan­ia Fire Police Associatio­n. Charlie began his police work in the Army in 1950 assigned to a military police unit. He gained employment with Atlantic Refinery in Philadelph­ia, a 38 years career.

Charlie joined the Flourtown Fire Co. fire police unit in January of 1965 and worked his way up through the ranks and becoming Captain in 1985.

Charlies and his wife Elsie live in the Erdenheim section of Springfiel­d Township
