PW had plenty of Catholic League experience this year, playing Bonner-Prendergas­t, Archbishop Wood, Archbishop Carroll and Neumann-Goretti — and beating all of them.

Roman, the school that eliminated PW from the state tournament two years ago, features two first-team All-Catholic players in Seth Lundy and Lynn Greer III and two second-teamers in Hakim Hart and Allen Betrand.

“You’re not completely stopping Lundy or Greer,” Donofrio said. “They have four guys in double figures, two at 19 a game. Basically, when we decide to get serious and play serious defense, this is a serious challenge, as serious as any. What do we want to do? I think their terrific, but I think we have some experience­d guys who know how to defend.”

Lundy is the tallest player on Roman’s roster, listed at 6-foot-6. PW’s McLeod stands a full eight inches taller than him at 7-foot-2.

“They are going to do certain things like everybody does with Naheem,” Donofrio said. “They’re going to do certain things as far as putting one or two on him, bump him early, get physical with him, see how he reacts, how the officials decide to call the game.”

In the end, Donofrio says it will come down to which stars shine brightest.

“Ahmad (Williams), Ahmin (Williams) and Ish (Horn) are veteran guys,” Donofrio said. “As is Naheem now. They have to raise their game, period. That’s plenty of talent right

Boys Class 6A

ABINGTON VS. ST. JOE’S PREP » District 1 champion Abington faces District 12 third place finisher St. Joe’s Prep in the second round Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Archbishop Ryan High School.

West beat Emmaus, 5334, in the first round. Reading, the defending state champion, handled Bensalem, 63-38.

The winner faces the winner of Roman Catholic and Plymouth Whitemarsh in the quarterfin­als Saturday.

Class 5A

ARCHBISHOP CARROLL VS. LAMPETER-STRASBURG » District 12 third place finisher Archbishop Carroll battles District 3 sixth place finisher Lampeter Strasburg in the second round Tuesday at Governor Mifflin Intermedia­te School at 7:30 p.m.

Carroll held off Wissahicko­n, 66-59, in the first round while LampeterSt­rasburg beat Bangor, 5442.

Luke House led the Patriots in the first round with 20 points — all in the second half.

The winner faces the winner of Milton Hershey and Bishop Shanahan in the quarterfin­als Friday. FAITH CHRISTIAN VS. MILLVILLE » District 1 champion Faith Christian Academy faces District 4 runner up Millville in the second round Tuesday at Martz Hall in Pottsville at 7:30 p.m.

Faith continued its historic season with an 80-34 win over Berks Christian in the first round. Milville beat Lincoln Leadership, 59-40.

The winner faces the winner of Plumstead Christian and Sullivan County in the quarterfin­als Friday.

Girls Basketball Class 6A

SOUDERTON VS. EASTON » District 1 champion Souderton takes on District 11 third place finisher Easton in the second round Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Spring-Ford High School.

The Indians dominated Manheim Township, 58-34, in the first round. Easton beat up on Olney, 67-22.
