John D. Tas­sone of Audubon

John D. Tas­sone of Audubon, and a for­mer res­i­dent of the Roxborough sec­tion of Philadel­phia, passed away on Tues­day March 13, 2018. He was 94 years old. Born Au­gust 7, 1923 in Philadel­phia, he was the son of the late Do­minick and Rose (nee Val­i­tutto) Tas­sone, and the beloved hus­band of Anita (nee Adonizio) with whom he spent nearly 50 years of mar­riage.

John grew up in the Port Rich­mond sec­tion of Philadel­phia and raised his fam­ily in Roxborough. John lived a very ac­tive and ath­letic life. He had a love for Bil­liards, Ball­room Danc­ing, and Ski­ing. Early on, he com­peted in Ball­room Danc­ing com­pe­ti­tions on roller skates and was a Na­tional Cham­pion. Just sev­eral weeks ago, he even won a Bil­liard Cham­pi­onship at Shan­non­dell. John was a vet­eran of the US Army and served dur­ing World War II.

In ad­di­tion to his wife Anita, John is sur­vived by his three chil­dren; Lisa Caruso (fi­ancé Russ), Roslyn An­geli­chio (Mick) and John Tas­sone (Lisa), five grand­chil­dren; Is­abel, Sofia, Nic, Gio­vanni, and Car­lina as well as his sis­ter Mary Ban­ning. He was pre­ceded in death by his four borthers and one sis­ter.

Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited to share in John’s Life Cel­e­bra­tion on Fri­day March 16, from 6 to 8 PM at Boyd-Hor­rox-Givnish of East Nor­ri­ton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610-277-7000 and again on Satur­day March 17, from 9 to 9:50 AM at St. Teresa of Avila 1260 S. Trooper Rd. Nor­ris­town. His Fu­neral Mass will be­gin a 10 AM at the church. In­ter­ment will be pri­vate.
