TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR VEGAS AT VARIETY Saturday, March 24: Tickets for the annual Vegas at Variety, scheduled for March 24 at College Hall at Montgomery County Community College, 340 DeKalb Pike in Blue Bell, from 7 to 11 p.m., are available online at https://support. varietyphila.org/VegasAtVarietyNight2018. Variety, The Children’s Charity, located on Potshop Road in Worcester, serves children and adults with special needs through educational, developmental and social programs and classes yearround. Vegas at Variety is just one of the fundraising efforts the organization relies on to finance the camp and its programs. EGG HUNT AND ECO-EGG HUNT Sunday, March 25: Come to Norristown Farm Park for the only educational egg hunt we know of. Children ages 6 to 8 will be challenged to find eggs by following a series of ecological clues hidden in eggs that are in the woods and fields. The treasure trove will be found at the end of the hunt. Younger children (ages three to five) will simply hunt for eggs in the traditional way. Please note that there are two different start times, younger children start at 2 pm and older children start at 2:15pm. Children ages 3 to 5 should bring a small basket for collecting. DAVID FRIDAY MEMORIAL NIGHT Saturday, April 14: Friends and family invite everyone to celebrate the life of David Friday beginning at 7 p.m. at Screwballs, 216 W. Beidler Road, King of Prussia. All proceeds benefit the David Friday Memorial Scholarship Funds, and checks should be made out to Pope John Paul II High school. Organizers ask that attendees wear green and gold in memory of David Friday. Donations will be accepted at the door. TASTE OF THE SUBURBS 2018 Sunday, April 15: The King of Prussia Rotary Club is pleased to announce that tickets for Taste of the Suburbs 2018 are on sale online at kingofprussiarotary.org. This year’s event will showcase food and drink specialties from over 30 restaurants, wineries and micro- breweries. Many of King of Prussia’s newest restaurants will be participating for the first time. Tickets cost $40 on line or $50 at the door. The event runs from 6:30 PM to 9 PM Sunday April 15 at the King of Prussia Mall. All ticket proceeds go to the Club’s charitable foundation that supports scholarships, first responders and local service organizations that help meet community needs. Non-residents will be considered if attending a full-time, horticulture-related program at an academic institution in the above Pennsylvania counties. Horticulture-related fields may include: Agriculture Education, Agronomy, Botany, Conservation, Environmental Concerns, Floriculture, Horticulture, Land Management, Landscape Architecture, and Plant Pathology. SPRING CRAFT FAIR AT HISTORIC SELMA MANSION Sunday, March 18: from 10 am to 4 p.m., the Norristown Preservation Society will host their annual Spring Craft Fair at Selma Mansion, located at 1301 West Airy St., Norristown. Crafty gifts and decorations for Easter and Mother’s Day will be available, such as jewelry, candles, homemade items, candy, bath items, baked goods, and more. Besides items for sale, they’ll have raffle baskets. The event is free and open to the public. All profits from the sale of vendor spaces go towards the restoration and maintenance of Selma Mansion. Also, mark your calendar for Selma Mansion’s History Day coming up on April 7th, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. AUDUBON BIRD TOWN BIRD WALK ON THE PENNYPACK TRAIL Tuesday, March 20: Meet at the Terwood and Welsh Road parking lot access to the Pennypack Trail for this morning bird walk led by members of the Wyncote Audubon Society. Expect to see some of the earliest arriving spring migrant birds as well as winter resident species. There will be a particular effort to spot Rusty Blackbirds which are one of the species that gave the Bethayres swamp the coveted ‘Important Bird Area’ status. Bring binoculars if you have them. This free bird walk is appropriate for adults and children ages 12 and older. Pre-registration is preferred. UPPER MERION CAMERA CLUB Wednesday, March 21: The Upper Merion Camera Club will hold a meeting at 7:30 pm at the Port Kennedy Presbyterian Church, 1084 Old Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406. The program will be “Aurora Photography and Wide Angle Techniques” presented by Marc Lombardi. Marc Lombardi (Harleysville, PA) began photographing the outdoors over 25 years ago. Subjects include wintering waterfowl of the Eastern US, as well as the birds, landscapes and mammals of Alaska, Costa Rica, Ecuador, India, Iceland, Svalbard, Japan, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and South Georgia. In recent years he has spent over 80 days at sea on trips to the Galapagos Islands and remote destinations in the Southern Ocean. STONY CREEK ANGLERS ANNUAL CLEANUP Saturday, March 24: Stony Creek Angler’s annual will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to noon. Anyone interested in volunteering should meet at the Bocce Courts in Elmwood Park prior to the start of the Clean Up. SCA will provide gloves, bags and refreshments. Please, dress according to the weather and if you have them, bring your boots and waders. Stony Creek Anglers will be stocking trout in both the Stony and Kepner creeks following the cleanup. SCA are also looking for volunteers to help stock the trout.
