Perkiomen school bus driver receives award
Student Transportation Inc., a leader in school transportation, safety and fleet services, has chosen an inductee for its Safety “Wall of Fame.”
The company will be inducting local school bus driver Bill Patterson into its Safety “Wall of Fame” — the company’s highest and most prestigious honor, at an upcoming awards ceremony.
“Bill’s work ethic and his professional attitude make him stand out among his peers,” said Emma Trauger, the Terminal Manager for STI’s Collegeville location. “I can ask him to do any route, and he does it safely. He is a go-to guy.”
Patterson, a veteran of the student transportation industry for nearly 18 years, was chosen for the award based on his deep-rooted dedication to safety both on and off the school bus. A former fire chief and current treasurer and battalion chief of the Perkiomen Fire Company, Patterson also dedicates his time as a supervisor for Perkiomen Township and is the township’s emergency management coordinator, as well as a part-time worker with the Montgomery County Emergency 911 Call Center.
At the STI terminal in Collegeville, Patterson is president of the CAPS (Concerns And Problems) Committee, a periodic roundtable session to discuss the concerns of the terminal’s employees.
“This recognition came as quite a surprise to me,” Patterson said. “I feel that my work ethic is appreciated.”
The Safety “Wall of Fame” ceremony will take place on April 3 with events that include an awards banquet with STI Senior Leadership and a day trip around the historic city of Charleston, S.C.
