Woman, 23, fatally shot on Easter morning

POTTSTOWN » A 23-year-old woman was shot to death in the early-morning hours of Easter Sunday.

Pottstown Police responded to a report of a shooting around 2 a.m. in the 300 block of Johnson Street between Third Street and Fourth Street.

According to witnesses at the scene, a woman was shot multiple times and died on the sidewalk next to a fence on Johnson Street.

Later Sunday, District Attorney Kevin Steele issued a statement and identified the victim as Siani Overby, 23, of Pottstown.

In his statement, Steele said an autopsy was performed “and found that she died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.”

He added, “the manner of death was ruled homicide.”

One neighbor said they heard at least five gunshots and some screaming and yelling before calling 911.

The neighbor said a male could be seen running north on Johnson Street, away from the shooting scene.

Detectives could be seen canvassing the neighborho­od after daybreak Sunday morning.

The incident remains under investigat­ion by borough police and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office.
