Gun brandished during traffic dispute
BRIDGEPORT » On March 10 at 10:17 p.m. police were called to the Goodwill Fire Company, 304 Bush Street, for a report of an armed man brandishing a handgun. The victim told dispatchers the man pointed the gun at him during an altercation in Greenfield Alley. Police located a truck that fit a description provided by dispatchers in the fire company’s parking lot and located the suspect inside the lounge area. Police say the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Richard Hughes of Plymouth Meeting, initially denied any knowledge of the altercation but later admitted to having a confrontation with the victim, who had approached his vehicle in an attempt to get him to move so he could pass through the alley. Hughes also reportedly admitted to brandishing the gun during the exchange. The victim told police he was fearful because his children were in his vehicle. Hughes, who legally owned the gun and had a concealed carry permit, was charged with aggravated and simple assault and reckless endangerment, according to court records.

According to the criminal complaint, David Cargno, 52, of Stone Harbor initially told authorities he bumped into his girlfriend and she fell backwards after police received reports of a man dragging an unconscious woman in the vicinity
