Christ United Church of Christ to present ‘A Folk Cantata’
Christ United Church of Christ is presenting an Earth Day “A Folk Cantata” on Sunday, April 22nd at their 10:45 a.m. worship service. The cantata will consist of lively folk music, hymns, spirituals and scripture celebrating God’s creation. Featured will be John and Tom Krumm, a father/son duo and Rev. Diane Allen from the Christian Network Outreach Church. The church is located at 1003 Marshall Street, Norristown.
Norristown hosting job fair on April 25
Norristown Municipality is hosting a Job Fair on April 25th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 1st floor of Municipal Hall (235 E Airy Street).
The job fair will allow attendees to meet with representatives from a variety of industries such as: Valley Forge Casino, Norristown Area School District, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), Montgomery County, PA, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, ACLAMO Family Centers, Carson Valley Children’s Aid and Colonial Insurance.
Attendees should “dress for success,” bring copies of professional resumes and be prepared to market skills.
Expert advice on interviewing and creating effective resumes will be offered by Colclough Staffing.

Stony Creek Anglers annual Trout Derby
The Stony Creek Angler’s 21st Annual Trout Derby is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29th. The event will be held rain or shine, at the Norristown Farm Park and Norristown State Hospital grounds.
Participants should enter at Gate 5 on Stanbridge Street.
A donation of $30 is requested for an adult twoday pass, a $20 donation for daily adult passes, $10 for teens and $5 for children. Breakfast/lunch and drinks will be available.
This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Bud Schaffer.

The Ladies of Selma Mansion rescheduled
The living history event scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at historic Selma Mansion, 301 West Airy St., Norristown, has been rescheduled to Saturday April 28, 11 am to 4 pm. The Norristown Preservation Society will present this free event, called The Ladies of Selma II. Last year’s History Day was so popular, the Society has decided to take another look at the feminine side of our American past. Learn about the women who lived in Selma Mansion. Hundreds expected at Walk MS: Norristown
An estimated 900 people are expected to raise more than $100,000 at Walk MS: Norristown on May 6 at Norristown High School. Walk MS is an opportunity for people to come together with friends, loved ones and coworkers to fundraise, connect and advocate for people affected by MS. Each dollar raised is one step closer to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s goal – a world free of MS. Since its inception in 1988, Walk MS has cumulatively raised more than $1 billion.
The walk will be Sunday, May 6 at 9 a.m., walk begins at 10 a.m. at Norristown High School - 1900 Eagle Drive, Norristown, PA 19401.
Walk MS helps fuel groundbreaking MS research and provide lifechanging services to those affected by MS through creating a supportive community of friends, families and loved ones who fundraise and connect.
