Peter Albert Wolff, 71, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away Wednesday, April 11th. He was the beloved husband of Merle (D’Alessandro) Wolff.

Born January 23rd, 1947, in White Plains, NY, he was a son of the late Jesse and Helen (Tuthill) Wolff. Surviving with his wife are daughters, Sara Kratowicz, husband Stephen of Media PA, and Katharine Odland, husband Thor, of Kopervik, Norway; son, Daniel Wolff of Philadelph­ia, PA. grandchild­ren, Hannah Odland, Norah Odland, John Magnus Odand, Aksel Odland, Jane Kratowicz, and Peter Kratowicz; brothers Kenneth Wolff, wife Janet of Cherry Valley, MA, and Roy Wolff, wife Margaret of Naples FL. Brothers-in-law, Charles “Skip” D’Alessandro of North Wales, PA and Michael D’Alessandro of Philadelph­ia, PA. Peter graduated from Roosevelt High School, Yonkers NY and Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from Bryn Mawr College. Peter taught mathematic­s and physics at W.B. Saul High School in Philadelph­ia for thirty-five years, from 1970 to 2005. For forty years, he also taught mathematic­s, physics, and computer science at local colleges including Arcadia University, Strayer University, and Philadelph­ia University, continuing to teach at Philadelph­ia University until February of this year. Along with his lifelong interest in science and mathematic­s, Peter was an avid reader of history, anthropolo­gy, and sociology. His passion for teaching and learning was surpassed only by his love for his family. With Merle by his side, Peter liked nothing more than having a house full of the people he loved, chatting and playing with his children and grandchild­ren. He enjoyed taking walks in the neighborho­od with close friends and family,and cherished vacations with extended family on Long Island, NY. Peter will be remembered for his genuine interest in the world around him, and his understand­ing and empathy for the people whose lives he touched, including the thousands of students he taught, his colleagues, community and church members, and his friends and family. A memorial service will be held at Christ Life Church, 4110 Butler Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 on May 12th, 2018. A receiving line is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with service beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a luncheon immediatel­y following the service.
