Peter Al­bert Wolff of Ply­mouth Meet­ing

Peter Al­bert Wolff, 71, of Ply­mouth Meet­ing, PA, passed away Wed­nes­day, April 11th. He was the beloved hus­band of Merle (D’Alessan­dro) Wolff.

Born Jan­uary 23rd, 1947, in White Plains, NY, he was a son of the late Jesse and He­len (Tuthill) Wolff. Sur­viv­ing with his wife are daugh­ters, Sara Kra­tow­icz, hus­band Stephen of Me­dia PA, and Katharine Od­land, hus­band Thor, of Kop­er­vik, Nor­way; son, Daniel Wolff of Philadel­phia, PA. grand­chil­dren, Han­nah Od­land, No­rah Od­land, John Mag­nus Odand, Ak­sel Od­land, Jane Kra­tow­icz, and Peter Kra­tow­icz; brothers Ken­neth Wolff, wife Janet of Cherry Val­ley, MA, and Roy Wolff, wife Mar­garet of Naples FL. Brothers-in-law, Charles “Skip” D’Alessan­dro of North Wales, PA and Michael D’Alessan­dro of Philadel­phia, PA. Peter grad­u­ated from Roo­sevelt High School, Yonkers NY and Har­vard Univer­sity, Cam­bridge, MA. He re­ceived his Doc­tor of Phi­los­o­phy in Physics from Bryn Mawr Col­lege. Peter taught math­e­mat­ics and physics at W.B. Saul High School in Philadel­phia for thirty-five years, from 1970 to 2005. For forty years, he also taught math­e­mat­ics, physics, and com­puter sci­ence at lo­cal col­leges in­clud­ing Ar­ca­dia Univer­sity, Strayer Univer­sity, and Philadel­phia Univer­sity, con­tin­u­ing to teach at Philadel­phia Univer­sity un­til Fe­bru­ary of this year. Along with his life­long in­ter­est in sci­ence and math­e­mat­ics, Peter was an avid reader of his­tory, an­thro­pol­ogy, and so­ci­ol­ogy. His pas­sion for teach­ing and learn­ing was sur­passed only by his love for his fam­ily. With Merle by his side, Peter liked noth­ing more than hav­ing a house full of the peo­ple he loved, chat­ting and play­ing with his chil­dren and grand­chil­dren. He en­joyed tak­ing walks in the neigh­bor­hood with close friends and fam­ily,and cher­ished va­ca­tions with ex­tended fam­ily on Long Is­land, NY. Peter will be re­mem­bered for his gen­uine in­ter­est in the world around him, and his un­der­stand­ing and em­pa­thy for the peo­ple whose lives he touched, in­clud­ing the thou­sands of stu­dents he taught, his col­leagues, com­mu­nity and church mem­bers, and his friends and fam­ily. A memo­rial ser­vice will be held at Christ Life Church, 4110 But­ler Pike, Ply­mouth Meet­ing, PA 19462 on May 12th, 2018. A re­ceiv­ing line is sched­uled to be­gin at 10 a.m. with ser­vice be­gin­ning at 11 a.m. There will be a lun­cheon im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing the ser­vice.
