Mary Elizabeth Gibson of Jeffersonville

-

Mary Elizabeth Gibson (nee’ Hoy), a resident of Jeffersonville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 13, 2018 at age 62. She was born in Norristown, PA, on November 26, 1955. She had been married for 26 years to James Marlon Gibson. In marrying Jim, she joined the Gibson clan, and quickly was taken into the hearts of his large family.

Mary, who was fondly known as Lisa by the Hoy family, is predeceased by her parents Joseph Thomas and Mary (nee’ Sweeney) Hoy and was thankful to share her life with her brother Michael Hoy (Sharon) and his family in Gloucester, Virginia. The Hoy aunts and uncles, along with their spouses, her deceased grandparents, and her father, joined together to raise her and her brother when their mom died when they were both not yet of grade school age. She was grateful to have the Hoy family in her life.

Mary attended St. Francis grade school in Norristown, graduated high school in 1973 from Mount St. Joseph Academy (Flourtown, PA) and received her under graduate degree in business from Cabrini College in St. Davids, PA. She worked over 20 years with Sears, first in retail at Logan Square, Norristown, PA and then as a Certified Cash Manager working in the cash and security departments at St. Davids, PA and then Greenville, Delaware. After Mary was blessed to receive a kidney transplant in 1997, she obtained her Paralegal certificate from Villanova University’s School of Law and worked as a paralegal in the law department of the Montgomery County Board of Assessment. She served in the roles of Treasurer and Secretary for the Montgomery County Association of Paralegals.

Mary enjoyed cooking, hosting dinners for family and friends, working with neighbors on various initiatives, home decorating, reading, and watching movies and sports with her husband (Go Phillies! Go Eagles!).

Mary had a special place in her heart for her pets. She was thankful for every moment she had with them. They brightened her day no matter how ill she was.
