Richard M. Wheelan Jr., 84, of Upper Merion Township, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Garden of Grace Hospice Unit at the Coatesvill­e VA Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Teaneck, NJ, Richard was the son of the late Richard M. Wheelan Sr. and Anna S. (Nielsen) Wheelan. He is survived by his loving wife Linda (Curran) Wheelan, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage. Richard was pre-deceased by his first wife, Regina C. (O’Neill) Wheelan in October, 1978, and infant daughter, Audrey Wheelan in October 1962.

Richard served his country as a Military Police Officer for the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany and there is where his love of travel, different cultures and all people was born. After his military service, he returned home to Philadelph­ia and attended Drexel University and then graduated from The Philadelph­ia Textile Institute with a B.S. in Textile Marketing & Management. Richard ran several successful companies including Wheelan & Wheelan, Inc., PLEATS, Sportco USA and The Hanold Company. After retiring he had a second wave of success as a Real Estate Broker for both Century 21 McAlister and Long and Foster. His civic involvemen­t included membership in the Knights of Columbus, The Lions Club, The Vesper Club, Phi Psi Fraternity and Toastmaste­rs.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his children: Michael Wheelan, husband of Donna; Robert Wheelan, husband of Terri; Valerie Jensen, wife of Matthew Vojtasek; Rae Wheelan, fiancé of Marshall Walters; Jennifer Wheelan; Gregory Wheelan, husband of Sonja; Stephanie Bass, partner of Kelly Nagy; and Samantha Bass. His grandchild­ren, Emily (Jensen) Murray, wife of Chris, Kelly Jensen, Jacqueline Jensen, Madison Henry, Griffin Henry, Faith Henry, Andrew Wheelan and Amelia Wheelan. And his large extended family both locally and across the pond in Scotland.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 am, with greeting from 9 to 10:45 am. Burial will be private.
