Richard P. Banse, 86, husband of Shirley A. (Carpenter) Banse, Lutheran Community at Telford, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Grand View Hospital, Sellersvil­le. He was a former resident of Myerstown, Lebanon County, and Collegevil­le.

Mr. Banse was born on June 26, 1931, in Roxborough, to the late Robert J. and Esther (Warren) Banse. He served with the U.S. Army, in Korea, attended the Centre College of Kentucky and was a Penn State graduate.

After being honorably discharged he went to work for the Provident Tradesman’s Bank just long enough to meet his beloved wife Shirley. After that he went to work for Bell of PA. He and Shirley were married June of 1957. Before retiring, Mr. Banse was the Bell Atlantic Rep. for the Dept. of Defense matters, as well as Co. Rep. at FEMA and PEMA meetings.

Mr. Banse was a member of Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the church board and was a longtime actor in the Passion Play production. He was a Cub Scout leader for many years. Dick enjoyed antique airplanes, sailing and carving duck decoys and taking walks with his Bassett Hound Molly.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Banse is survived by his daughters, Susan, wife of Brian Hohman, Quakertown, and Sara, wife of Howard Poole, Dudley, MA; and his grandchild­ren, Trevor and Zachary Hohman, and Madison and Skyler Poole. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Jr., husband of Mary (Masterelli) Hagerstown, MD; and his brother, Robert Banse.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, at Fairview Village Church, 3044 W. Germantown Pike, Worcester Twp. Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick Twp. Friends may call from 9:00 to 9:45 AM, Wednesday, at church.
