Wanda Florence Dowhan (Siek) age 97, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018, at her home, in Norristown, PA, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on November 16th, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Anna (Wulczyk) and John Siek. She grew up with four sisters.
A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Wanda possessed a grateful heart and optimistic spirit. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; spending time with family, Sunday car trips, and coffee with sweet rolls. She was an avid reader who delighted in happy stories that mirrored her appreciation for life.
Her fondness of westerns, John Wayne movies, and horses was reflected in her adventurous spirit. She loved travel and had the opportunity to explore the world with her devoted husband. She was a hairdresser by trade, before staying home to raise her family.
A caring person, she volunteered as a USO Junior Hostess and provided immense comfort by writing hundreds of letters to soldiers, during their deployment in World War II. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter, of fiftyfour years. She is survived by her four sons; David (Monica), Jeffrey (Jodie), Phillip (Kathy), Mark (Carole), seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister (Ardell) and multiple nieces and nephews. A life well lived. You will be sorely missed mom and mom-mom.
A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in memory of Wanda, on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 10:30AM, at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church 519 Union Avenue in Bridgeport, PA 19405.
