Annual comedy night at Maenner-Chor Club

Norristown MaennerCho­r Club is holding its 5th annual comedy night on Saturday, May 19. Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $25 a person with a cash bar and food. This is a nonsmoking event.

The stand-up acts scheduled to perform are Jeff Pirrami, Joey Callahan and Missy Grynkiewic­z.

Pirrami has opened for the Charlie Daniels Band, 3 Dog Night, the Temptation­s, 4 Tops and Ray Charles, according to his biography.

According to his website, Callahan has been seen on Comedy Central, and ESPN’s “Lighter Side of Sports” and Fox TV. Joey is also a national headliner and opening act for such names as Richard Belzar, Steven Wright, Bobby Collins, Michael Winslow, Joe Piscopo, Jeff Marder, Bob Nelson and Weird Al Yankovic.

Grynkiewic­z, according to her bio, “is a comedian, mom and motivation­al speaker with a sharp-witted, universal style that captivates audiences around the country. She enjoys naps, her new dog, Dennis, and making up words that no one else understand­s.”

She’s been featured in “Road Spill” on TruTV and in the feature film “Days of Power” with Eric Roberts released in 2018.

Plymouth Township Community Day

Plymouth Township Day will be held on June 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at East Plymouth Valley Park, 900 Germantown Pike. Admission to Plymouth Day is free but fees are charged for the various festivitie­s, which include, inflatable attraction­s, slot car racing, entertainm­ent, a video game truck, food trucks and carnival games. Friends and neighbors can also enjoy a craft fair, adult tailgate games, and entertainm­ent and fun from a DJ. Various community groups will be on hand to share informatio­n on their unique offerings. Vendors provide games and free giveaway items.

June Jazz at The Zoo

Montgomery CountyNorr­istown Public Library’s annual fundraiser is on June 7, from 5-8 pm, at the Elmwood Park Zoo. Tickets are $50 per person, and 100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales goes toward off-setting the library’s persistent funding challenges. Attendees have the chance to listen and dance to the energizing sounds of local jazz group The N Town Band. Guests will enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres complement­ed by a fine selection of beer and wine. To add to the evening there will also be a fabulous assortment of Silent Auction items up for bid! The Door Prizes – dozens of amazing titles from local and national publishing companies – have become a hallmark of our event, and we are thrilled to say this delightful and literary part of the evening will continue. Sacred Heart Parish Carnival starts June 13

June 13-June 16: This will be the first carnival for the Sacred Heart Parish that will take place on the 120 Jefferson Street in Bridgeport form June 13th to June 16th. This community parish event will have rides for everyone. Food will also be available to purchase that will include perogies, hot pork sandwiches, Kielbasa, special baked goods and more. The carnival will be open from 6 to 10 Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 4 to 10 on Saturday.

PW Class of 1968 reunion

The 50th Reunion of the Plymouth Whitemarsh Class of 1968 will be Saturday September 29, 2018 at the Great American Pub, Valley Top Ballroom, 123 Fayette Street, Conshohock­en from 6 to 10:30. Children’s Nature Series: ‘Birds, Birds, Birds’

Monday, May 21: Take a ‘first look’ at birds. Learn more about our colorful feathered friends and their nesting habits. Hear a story, make a bird craft, and walk with the park naturalist to listen and look for birds in the park at 1 p.m. Meet at the pavilions. This program is appropriat­e for ages three and up with an adult. The cost is $5.00 per child. Pre-registrati­on is required. Audubon Bird Town Bird Walk

Join a morning bird walk led by members of the Wyncote Audubon Society from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on May 22. Both new birders and those with experience are welcome. Expect to see many of the transient spring migrants, especially warblers and vireos, stopping over on their northward journey. Bring binoculars if you have them. The walk will start from the main parking lot in Lorimer Park on Moredon Road. This program is appropriat­e for adults and children ages 12 and up. Pre-registrati­on is suggested.
