I know who holds the future

-

Seers were not only useful in Bible times. Because of technology we have many seers today. I’m fascinated by something as common as a weather forecast. In spite of an occasional misread, the weatherman or woman is pretty accurate. If you look at the maps and charts you can depend on a fairly accurate forecast. The weather report is an everyday essential. It affects travel and even space probes. Years ago, all they had was the farmer’s almanac.

Stockbrokers can predict the markets, as well, because they have the advantage of the ability to look ahead. The real experts can predict a bull or a bear market.

Our modern-day seers are essential to food production, profit or loss. It is necessary to life. In Luke 12:56 Jesus asked the question, “you can discern the face of the sky and of the earth, how is it you cannot this time?”

The question arises, am I concerned enough about my eternal welfare? I need that help today. The Word of God is one seer today. It lets me know about the highs and the lows, the storms that will come and challenge my faith. I also need to know my opportunities and the possibilities of abundant life that are within reach.

In the Matthew text, Jesus is calling for us to look ahead. The Word of God will show you how God’s hand is in the affairs of men.

I pray that you see that your life has meaning and destiny. I pray that folks will see it before it’s too late. There’s a definite need for two things: leaders who are seers who see the ruin that comes from doing wrong, and discernment to understand the Word of God and the future that God has planned for us!

Immorality and lawlessness at the top levels of society filters down and sets the tone of activity and action in the lower levels of society. Lawlessness always sinks down from the top, it never seeps up from the bottom. You see it often, public officials using their own agenda for crooked deals and personal profit. We so badly need to elevate our morality to a much higher level that’s why we need to be seers.

As a nation we have reduced our ethical standards and morals by relying on science and think religion. The Old Gospel song needs to be sung again, “open my eyes that I may see…”

Right now, we need sight more than might. In the political world, a government that is not the servant of the people can become totalitarian. The more that an individual receives that he didn’t work for, the more dependent he becomes, and the more dependency the more authority goes to the government. Freedom is lost little by little.

This world is a dangerous place and it’s getting worse. Look at your own soul, what do you see? We don’t need more religion, we need a close relationship with the Father and the Son.

We enjoy many benefits as Americans because of men of vision. Are you able to say, “I am a seer,” I know that my future is bright because I’m a child of the King. Our vision needs to go beyond the next paycheck or your next vacation. Let the Word of God direct your vision. Pastor JR Damiani is senior pastor at Family Worship Center in Towamencin.
