Paige Fentress Custer of Limerick

-

Paige Fentress Custer of Limerick, PA and formerly of Roanoke, VA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 4, 2018. Paige was a devoted wife, and wonderful mother and grandmother. Above all, she loved the Lord and shared her faith with countless others during her life.

Paige was born and raised in Fentress, VA. She attended Madison College and met her husband, Jack, shortly after graduating. Paige was an elementary school teacher in Chesapeake and Newport News, VA. After their marriage, in addition to living in Newport News, they lived in Atlanta, Georgia, Roanoke, Virginia and Limerick, Pennsylvania. It never took long for Paige to meet new people as she made wonderful friends and memories from all of the places she called home.

She created a happy and loving home that was always the center of activity for friends young and old. Her children, Scott and Lee, loved growing up in a home full of love and have used her Godly example in their own families.

Paige loved her grandchildren and recently her great-grandchildren. They always loved being around “Grandma Paige” and some of her favorite times were being with them at the beach or family “get togethers” in Roanoke.

Paige is survived by her husband of 64 years and the love of her life, Jack, her two children Scott (Betsy) and Lee Martin (Charlie), four grandchildren, Meredith, Lizzy, Jackson and Mary Paige; and three greatgrandchildren: Ella, Carter and Paige. Collectively they were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Bettie Virginia Grissom and brother-inlaw, Preston Grissom, and many loving cousins and relatives.

Finally, the most important part of Paige’s life was her faith and love in the Lord. She was an example to all who knew her. She lived a Godly life and she walked with Him every day. Even in her final days she constantly reminded those around her of her life’s motto - “God is good, all the time - And all the time, God is good”

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, June 11th at the First Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the church reception area known as The Crossing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First Baptist Church in memory of Paige Fentress Custer.

Arrangements are by Oakey’s Roanoke Chapel (540-982-2100). Online condolences may be expressed at www.oakeys. com.
