Desmond Hotel is now a Hilton property
EAST WHITELAND » The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center has gone global.
The venerable 194-room hotel located in the busy Great Valley Route 29 corridor in Chester County, has officially launched its affiliation as the Desmond Hotel Malvern, a DoubleTree by Hilton.
“The ownership and the management hasn’t changed, but our affiliation has changed dramatically. We are very, very happy and very excited about this future,” Michael Chain Sr., a member of the investment group that owns the Desmond, told hotel employees and invited guests during a June 5 grand reopening.
Chain told the group that the new venture is, “exciting, nerve wracking and scary for some of us,” because the company has been independent hotel operators and owners. But he added that it is also necessary.
“We find ourselves in an economy where we think the right thing to do is to join with a very, very strong partner which we have in Hilton in DoubleTree,” he said.
Michael Chain Jr. is the general manager of the hotel. He said the affiliation with Hilton offers several advantages for guests.
“They are able to be served by the same amazing and tenured team, enjoy the benefits of a newly renovated property Michael Chain Sr., a member of the investment group that owns the hotel, addresses guests and employees during a ceremony marking the reopening of the hotel as a Hilton property, following nearly $5 million in improvements.
