Whole Foods offers 2-hour delivery
Option available for Amazon Prime members in some locations
Some Whole Foods Market customers in the Philadelphia region can now get their groceries delivered within a two-hour window.
Amazon and Whole Foods Market have expanded their free, two-hour delivery of Whole Foods Market products through Prime Now to four cities — including Philadelphia and some of its suburbs. The other cities are Boston, Mass., Richmond, Va. and Baltimore, Md.
According to a Whole Foods spokeswoman, two-hour delivery for Prime members is available — at least for now — in some limited areas of the tri-county region.
“We are covering as far west as West Chester, as far north as Hatfield and as far east as Mount Holly,” said Rachael Wilson, Whole Foods spokeswoman, however, she couldn’t provide specifics of exactly which communities can get the delivery service.
“The best way for a customer to determine if they are in the area is to enter their zip code on the Prime Now app or on primenow. com,” she added.
Through Prime Now, members can shop for items including fresh produce, meat and seafood, staples
and other locally sourced items from Whole Foods Market and have them delivered in two-hours.
The expedited service began in limited areas earlier this year and is available in 14 cities, with continued expansion planned across the U.S. throughout 2018, according to a press release.
“We’ve been delighted with the customer response to free two-hour delivery through Prime Now, and we’re excited to bring the service to our customers in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Richmond,” Christina Minardi, Whole Foods Market executive vice president of operations said in the release, adding that the move is “another way that we are continuing to expand access to our highquality products and locally sourced favorites.”
In addition to the free two-hour delivery for orders over $35, Prime members in specific areas can also receive “ultrafast” delivery within one hour for a fee of $7.99 on orders of $35 or more.
Delivery from Whole Foods Market through Prime Now is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
For more information visit www.primenow.com or primenow.amazon.com/, or download the Prime Now app — available for Android and iOS devices — to enter a zip code to see if a specific location is included in the delivery area.
Amazon acquired Whole Foods Market in August, 2017 in a deal valued at $13.7 billion. Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Consumer said in a press release at the time, that Amazon was “determined to make healthy and organic food affordable for everyone.”
