WORCESTER » Trinity Lutheran Church’s Third Annual Country Fair and Car Show on the church grounds in Fairview Village is set for Saturday, June 23, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.,

But, as was the case last year, rain threatens to throw a wrench in the popular event.

“They turned the forecast around and are calling for rain all day on Saturday, so we’re pretty sure we’ll have to use our rain date, June 30, the following Saturday,” noted Lynne Burgoon, a onetime chairman of the mentor.

“I’m just the mentor behind it all now. The actual chairman is Marilou Doughty,” Burgoon said.

Naturally, the car show, organized by Bill Sweeney and Ron Moorehead, is one of the show’s aspects hanging on the grim forecast, as many owners wait until the day of the show to register in case of rain.

The car show runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with registration at 9 a.m.

“The first year we had 108 cars and last year we had 141 cars, so it keeps growing,” Burgoon said.

Choosing their favorite cars will be pastor Stacey Kyle-Rhea, Mark Travetti of Worcester Volunteer Fire Co. and Amanda Bryant of Silver Springs Martin Luther School. The latter two organizations are this year’s beneficiaries, along with the Grace and Cecil Bean Soup Kitchen at St. John Episcopal Church in Norristown and Code Blue in Phoenixville.

“We thought that was appropriate for them to picks their favorites and it adds some fun to it,” Burgoon said.

Popular segments of The Fair will again include the attic treasures and used book sale, basket raffles, moon bounce and children’s activities, craft vendors, food trucks, and bake sale, featuring church members’ wellknown pies, cookies, cakes and brownies.

The Attic Treasures and Used Book Sale will be held on Friday, June 22, 5 to 8 p.m., in addition to regular fair hours on Saturday.

Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 1190 Valley Forge Road, Worcester.
