Special events at the county library

This summer at the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, 1001 Powell St., Norristown:

3 CHEERS FOR THE RED, WHITE, AND BLUE

Tuesday, July 3: Get ready to celebrate the 4th of July and make some noise at the library or fly your patriotic wind sock! Come in and have fun getting ready for the big day! Ages 2-up with a caregiver.

THEATER WORKSHOP

Tuesday, July 10: 1 pm Children will be introduced to a variety of theater games that will demonstrate such concepts as stage presence, character development, and stage direction. The class will eventually end with a short scripted play in which all children will have an opportunity to demonstrate the skills taught in the workshop. Ages 8-12. Registration required.

LEGO PLUS

Saturdays, July 14 and 28: – 10:30 am – Imagine, create, and build using a variety of building sets, including LEGO, K’Nex, Straws and Connectors, and more! For kids in grades K-6. Drop in. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Making Waves! Friday, July 20: 10:30 am Stop by and have fun exploring different beach themed activities. You might want to play some Skee-Ball, fish for some letters, sort sea shells and ocean life, make something fishy to take home, dive into a great book, and more. For ages 2-6 with a caregiver. DANCE FOR FUN!

Tuesday, July 24: – 1 pm – Participants will be introduced to a variety of dance styles and techniques that welcomes every skill level. Group dancing and a variety of line dances will be taught. Come prepared to work up a sweat! This class will conclude with a special treat for all participants. Ages 8-12. ICE CREAM TRUCK!

Tuesday, July 24: 1:30 pm – Join us for free ice cream courtesy of Bryn Mawr Trust Bank! Get a free ice pop or ice cream sandwich. Limit: one per person. For all ages.

Special events at the Norristown Farm Park Morning Bird Walk

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 8 a.m. Join park staff on the first Tuesday of every month for a morning bird walk. The farm land, meadows, forest, wetlands, creeks, and the pond of the Norristown Farm Park are a haven for many species of birds. Bring binoculars if you have them. Meet in parking lot #3.

The Fish of the Farm Park

The Fish of the Farm Park at Norristown Farm Park on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10 a.m.

Park ranger Jake Carlin will give an indoor presentation on the game fish that Montgomery County has to offer. Take a close look at individual species, fishing methods, and the proper way to catch and release. Learn about the many destinations within the county to land the next “big one”. Meet in the Salt Wing, adjacent to the park office.
