Honey Bees Program at the Farm Park
Come out and meet the park’s beekeeper, Don George on Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. in the Salt Wing. Learn some bee biology and how you can help the honey bee at home. Participants will see an observation hive first-hand. The equipment used for bee keeping will be showcased. Find out about the challenges facing modern beekeepers today and the reasons for the decline in the honey bee population. A sign-up sheet will be available for anyone wanting to attend a beginner’s course on beekeeping. Taste honey and purchase some if you like. Meet in the Salt Wing, adjacent to the park office. NPD sponsoring ‘Touch a Truck’ event
The Norristown Police Department will be hosting a “Touch a Truck” event on Monday, August 6 from 5-8 p.m. Be a Touch A Truck with NPD Exhibitor! Show off your trucks or equipment and engage your business in the community! Be a “Touch a Truck” exhibitor. Any and all unique trucks and equipment, big or small are free to exhibit. Registration deadline is July 30, 2018. Types of vehicles needed: Unique/Rare/Novelty (Limos, monster trucks, antique trucks); Construction (Cement & dump trucks, cement rollers, etc); Emergency (Ambulances, sheriff & police vehicles, fire trucks & equipment, etc); Farm Equipment (Big tractors, plows, etc); Commercial (Postal, delivery, 18-wheelers, etc); Military (All types) Recreational (4-wheelers, motorcycles, etc). Sponsors may bring banners, signage, decorations and giveaways to promote their business. Norristown National Night Out on Aug. 7
Norristown National Night Out and Community Block Party will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the 1300 block of Willow Street. Norristown National Night Out (set up starts at 4 PM) - must bring your own table and chairs. Hosts for the event include Norristown police and fire departments, Norristown Neighborhood Watch, Municipal Council, local government officials, local churches and concerned residents. This is a free event and no selling is permitted. The event promotes neighborhood spirit with community partnership, members of law enforcement and residents for a safer Norristown. Featured at the event will be free food, fun, games, giveaways, music and entertainment.
