Elizabeth Ann Deegan, a beloved mother, grandmothe­r and friend, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Seasons Hospice at Phoenixvil­le Hospital. She was 82.

She was born Jan. 14, 1936, in West Conshohock­en, Pa., a daughter of Walter and Sara (Smith) Freas.

Her husband Robert died in 1990.

She worked several years at the jewelry counter at Kohl’s in Royersford, retiring in 2016. A homemaker, she also held several other jobs over the years, including at Sharp Corp. in Plymouth Township and the old Ray’s Diner in East Norriton.

She converted to the Catholic faith in the 1970s and belonged for many years to St. Augustine’s Church in Bridgeport. Most recently, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Royersford.

She also belonged to the Phoenixvil­le Area Senior Citizens group.

She liked to watch the soaps, go on bus trips and travel with her girlfriend­s, who kept her company and helped care for her through her final days. She also enjoyed spoiling her granddaugh­ters, Leanna and Jenna, and proudly cheering them on at their sporting events.

She was a longtime resident of the 600 block of Bush Street in Bridgeport, back when neighbors spent evenings on their front porches and talked to and about one another.

She was a 1953 graduate of the old Upper Merion High School on Gulph Road.

Surviving are a son, Robert of Upper Merion; a son, James and wife Helen of Easton; a daughter, Debra and husband James Heiney of Norristown; four grandchild­ren, Melissa, Robert, Leanna and Jenna; a sister, Naomi Mackay of Lower Providence; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predecease­d by three brothers, Walter Vernon, Jacob and Chester Freas.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 11 AM, a viewing will be held in church prior to mass from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 838 Walnut Street, Royersford, PA 19468. Interment St. Augustine’s Cemetery in King of Prussia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to Seasons Hospice, 140 Nutt Road, Phoenixvil­le, PA 19460.
