A Bridgeport man is headed to jail for illegal drug activity in the borough.

Devin Pearson, 29, of the 100 block of West Third Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to 11 ½ to 23 months in the county jail after he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver cocaine in connection with a June 2017 incident. Judge Steven C. Tolliver, who accepted a plea agreement in the matter, also ordered Pearson to complete two years’ probation following parole, meaning Pearson will be under court supervision for about four years.

Pearson will receive credit for the time he’s been in jail since his arrest last year, court papers indicate.

An investigation began on June 3, 2017, when Bridgeport police obtained a warrant to search the West Third Street property where Pearson was residing. That search was conducted on June 4 at 6:25 a.m., according to court documents.

During the search of the basement that was identified as Pearson’s bedroom, police found 4.7 grams of crack cocaine as well as a digital scale and a bag containing numerous unused, clear, packaging materials, according to the criminal complaint. Investigators also found a “piece of paper with unknown names and money amounts collected/owed to such persons,” according to the arrest affidavit.

Other charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed against Pearson as part of the plea agreement.
