Thelma Marie Smee, formerly of Plymouth Meeting

Thelma Marie Smee (nee Hook), formerly of Plymouth Meeting and a current resident of Hockessin, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018, with her family by her side. She was 90 years old.

Born February 13, 1928 in Trone, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lohring J. and Eva (nee Oates) Hook and the beloved wife of the late Robert K. Smee. She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

Thelma started her career at the Pentagon, then relocated to Pennsylvania with her husband.

She raised her children and worked part time at Lit Brothers Department Store.

Later in life she became an executive secretary for Parks and Recreation in Whitemarsh Township.

Thelma was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Norristown, PA, for over 50 years.

She enjoyed sewing, exercising, cooking, golfing, and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family which she loved and cherished.

Thelma is survived by her two children, Carolyn Smee Fleury (Keith) and Robert L. Smee (Dee); three grandchildren, Andrew Fleury (Caitlin), Lauren Tyczkowski (Christopher) and Dana Mosk (Robert); two greatgrandchildren, Jack and Aubrey; along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Thelma’s Life Celebration on Monday August 13, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, 610277-7000. Her funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Thelma’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
