GA 2, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 1 » The Germantown Academy girls soccer team opened the season with a 2–1 victory over visiting Archbishop Wood. Ally Clark opened the scoring when she pounced on a loose ball at the top of the box and punched it into the lower corner of the net.
Wood countered just before halftime, picking up a rebound in the penalty box and evening up the score. Late in the second half, GA’s Kiley Kergides found Cassidy Palazzo with a beautiful free kick; Palazzo fought off her defender, dribbled past the goalie and drove the game winner into an open net. GA’s Lily Altamore played exceptionally well in goal, making two spectacular reaction saves late in the second half to preserve the win. HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, WISSAHICKON 2 » Wissahickon came out slow and were down 1-0 heading into halftime. Hatboro continued to press and were rewarded with another goal early in the second half making it 2-0. Wiss came to life with about 30 minutes remaining and Lieke Black scored on a volley off of a Lindsey Schmidt corner kick. Later in the half, Anna May scored her first goal on a free kick that was played in beautifully by Sam Cominitski. Despite having momentum heading into OT, Hatboro countered early in the first period and scored on a nice far post finish for the win.

WISSAHICKON INVITATIONAL » GA had a big weekend at the Wissahickon Invitational, winning all five of their matches. Walker Butler led the way with 10 goals.
