Theft suspects plant drugs on elderly woman

WEST NORRITON » At 1:24 p.m. Aug. 20 police responded to a report of a theft in progress at Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, 533 Foundry Road. A witness told police two males and a female were stealing windows from the property and loading them into a jeep. Lower Providence police located the jeep and conducted a traffic stop in the unit block of East Main Street in Collegevil­le and the witness was brought to the scene to positively

identify the suspects. During the investigat­ion, police discovered the 91-yearold mother of one of the suspects was also in the vehicle. She told an officer that something was poking her, then reached into her pants and pulled out a bag containing 85 grams of crystal methamphet­amine. The three suspects each denied the drugs were theirs and blamed one another for planting the narcotics, but they all were issued warrants. The 91-year-old was not charged.

Thefts from vehicles

WEST NORRITON » On Sept. 2 at 11:45 a.m police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle in the unit block of Egypt Road. The victims said their unlocked SUV was entered into overnight and three pairs of designer sunglasses, a clutch purse and a phone charger worth a total of $425, were stolen along with about $10 in loose change. At noon, another theft was reported from a vehicle in the 1800 block of West Main Street. In the second theft, a folding knife, an iPhone charger and $6 in loose change was stolen. The thief also left behind a cigar with a plastic tip in the vehicle’s cup holder.

Burglary investigat­ed

WEST NORRITON » At approximat­ely 3:30 a.m. Sept. 2, a resident in the 1400 block of West Main Street called police to report a burglary. The victim said she went to a wedding the day before at around 3 p.m. and returned to find that someone had broken into her home. An air conditioni­ng unit had been removed from a front window and a PlayStatio­n 4 game console was missing. A rock had been tossed through a pane of glass in a rear door to gain entrance. Police took the rock into evidence and checked nearby surveillan­ce cameras and a pawn shop.

Theft suspects apprehende­d

WEST NORRITON » A pair of alleged fraudsters suspected of several thefts from vehicles were taken into custody after a stolen cell phone led police to their location at the Chateau Suites at Valley Forge, 2522 West Main Street, Aug. 31. The Arizona couple were suspected of stealing personal items and informatio­n from five vehicles earlier in the month. The female half of the duo, identified as 37-year-old Jessica Szieber, also allegedly tried to cash several checks stolen from one of their victims. That victim’s daughter used an app to locate her mother’s stolen phone at the hotel and police responded to two rooms the suspects had rented. Szieber reportedly gave police a fake name and identifica­tion before being taken into custody. Her alleged accomplice, 26-year-old Freddie Wooten Jr., jumped out of a second story window when police arrived but was immediatel­y apprehende­d. In one of the rooms, police found hundreds of documents, including driver’s licenses, bank checks, and credit and debit cards belonging to victims from around the country, as well as crystal methamphet­amine and drug parapherna­lia.
