Aldi grocery reopens after renovations
Remodeled West Whiteland store reopens to customers
The Aldi grocery store in West Whiteland has reopened after being closed for about a month for remodeling. The store, at 190 W. Lincoln Highway, reopened to shoppers Sept. 13.
The renovation of the store is part of an ongoing $1.9 billion initiative to remodel and expand more than 1,300 Aldi stores across the U.S. by the end of 2020.
“The remodeled store features open ceilings, natural lighting and additional storage for even more fresh produce, dairy and meat,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley division vice president for Aldi.
In addition, all new and renovated stores also feature the use of environmentally-friendly building materials — such as recycled materials, energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting, according to the company.
Grammer added that more than 1,200 customers visited the West Whiteland store Sept. 13, including, “many loyal Aldi shoppers, as well as new fans,” he said.
“At Aldi, everything we do is about delivering high-quality food at affordable prices, and that
will never change,” Grammer said in a press release. “Now it will be even easier for customers to find the foods they want from us at a great price, whether it’s fresh produce or our beloved Aldi Finds.
In addition to the store renovations, the company plans to open 750 new Aldi locations by 2022 — part of a $3.4 billion investment. The supermarket chain currently operates more than 1,800 stores in 35 states; that number will grow to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022.
In June, a new Aldi opened in Pottstown at the Pottstown Center Shopping Center, 223 Shoemaker Road. Another new Aldi, located at 5 Matthews Road in Malvern, is scheduled to open later this fall. As part of the company’s aggressive expansion plans, Aldi is adding 25,000 new jobs in stores, warehouses and offices nationwide by 2022.
The West Whiteland Aldi store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The store originally opened in 2012. For more information about Aldi visit aldi.us.
