CONSHOHOCKEN » If it’s September, it’s Funfest time in Conshohocken.

Now in its 25th year, the free annual event on Sept. 22 will resonate with all the time-honored traditions such as live music, vendors, handmade crafts, kids’ activities and a showcase of the town’s business community.

The only element missing this year will be the race, noted longtime organizer Vince Flocco, owner of Flocco’s Shoes, Clothes & Formalwear, a Funfest sponsor.

“We used to start the race at 10 a.m. and closed the streets all day and it was such a long day for the volunteers. It’s hard to keep asking people to be out there all day, and we only drew about 100 to 175 people, so we decided not to do the race,” Flocco said.

Formerly run by the Greater Conshohocken Merchants and Professionals Association, Funfest came under the borough’s management three years ago, Flocco added.

This year Conshohocken Funfest will be located on Fayette Street between First and Fifth Avenues, from 1 to 8 p.m. A music stage for live performances will be set up at First Avenue and Fayette Street.

Craft vendors, local community groups and businesses will be stationed from Second to Third avenues, with an area for free children’s entertainment, featuring moon bounce inflatables, games, face painters, balloon artists and toucha-truck will be located from Third to Fifth Avenues on Fayette Street.

“There’s no high pressure for parents. If kids do the moon bounces it’s not going to cost parents $10, $20 or $30 like it did in the past.,” Flocco said. “This way, with the borough being involved, there’s a lot for families to do at no charge.”

At 5 p.m. all children’s activities will break down, and live music, vendors and local food

and drink by The Boat House and other local favorites will be offered until 8 p.m.

River of Dreams performs from 1 to 3 p.m.; The Zone takes the stage from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with Radio Nashville performing from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funfest sponsors include Eastburn and Gray PC; The Boat House; The Great American Pub; Quaker Chemical Corporation;Borough of Conshohocken Authority; Dunlap & Associates, P.C., CPAs; Rudolph Clarke, LLC; A. Piermani and son; ASTM International; Clearview Professional Services LLC; Conshohocken Italian Bakery; CPW Rotary; Ebert Engineering, Inc.; Julian Miraglia; Action Karate Plymouth; Adam J. “It’s a nice event for the community. There are more families with children moving into Conshohocken and it’s a nice showcase for what we have to offer here,” Flocco said.
