Pottstown man faces prison for drug trafficking
NORRISTOWN >> A judge has sent a Pottstown man to prison after a jury convicted him of trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine in the borough.
Victor M. Rojas-Rolon, 48, of the 300 block of East High Street, was sentenced this week in Montgomery County Court to two to four years in a state correctional facility on charges of delivering fentanyl and methamphetamine, possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a June 2017 incident in the borough.
A jury convicted RojasRolon of the charges during a trial in June.
Judge Risa Vetri Ferman also ordered Rojas-Rolon to complete two years’ probation following parole, meaning Rojas-Rolon will be under court supervision for six years.
Ferman recommended that Rojas-Rolon be incarcerated as the State Correctional Institution at Chester, Delaware County, or another facility with drug addiction treatment programs.
During the two-day trial, the jury acquitted RojasRolon of a single charge of criminal use of a communication facility.
With the charges, prosecutors and Pottstown police alleged Rojas-Rolon, during the month of June 2017, delivered “an amount of packaged fentanyl/methamphetamine to a confidential informant in the Borough of Pottstown.” The informant agreed to meet Rojas-Rolon at an arranged location in the borough to carry out the deal.
The evidence from the so-called “controlled buy” was sent to a lab for analysis. Those lab tests confirmed that the substance did contain fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to a criminal complaint.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lauren Alessi. RojasRolon was represented by defense lawyer Sarah Hudson.
