Davis Family Soul Food Day on Oct. 20

The annual Davis Family Soul Food Day at St. Patrick Church Hall (DeKalb and Chestnut streets, Norristown) will be on Saturday, Oct. 20 from noon until 7 p.m.; price is $14. The menu features fried chicken or baked chicken; fried fish or BBQ ribs; mac and cheese or potato salad; collard greens or string beans; sweet potatoes; variety of homemade cakes and pies. Proceeds from Soul Food Day benefit St. Patrick Church.

Annual Blue Mass at Sacred Heart Church

Sunday, Oct. 7: The Annual Blue Mass will take place at the Sacred Heart Parish on Sunday October 7th at the 10:15 Mass. This joint venture of Sacred Heart Parish and the Ancient Order of Hibernians invite everyone to attend this event honoring those who serve and protect. All police, firefighters and first responders are welcome to attend as well as the residents of the community. The AOH Color Guard and Irish Thunder Pipes and Drums will also take part in this Mass with Pastor Reverend Tom Thomas Nasta and Sacred Heart Choir.

Calhoun’s Teach One Feed One 5K

The Calhoun Athletic Company will host a 5k race on November 10, 2018 with proceeds benefitting Teach One Feed One. Teach One Feed One is a nonprofit organization that every Sunday in efforts to feed and support homeless addicts in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. In addition to this, they also assist those hoping to get into treatment, as well as those being released from treatment in order to create a higher rate of success.

The St. Patrick Church Christmas Bazaar will run Friday, Nov. 9 (5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and Saturday, Nov. 10 (noon till 8 p.m.) in the church hall at 714 DeKalb Street, Norristown.
