Charles “Dutch” W. Brong, 93, of Douglassvi­lle. Husband of Caroline L. (Malisa) Brong passed away at the Keystone Villa on Friday October 5, 2018. Born in Peckville, PA. He was last surviving son of Jennie (Hughes) and Elmer Brong.

Charles was employed Bell Telephone of PA as a Claims Manager for 40 years. Never missing a day of work. He was a member of Good Shepherd UCC. 35 West Philadelph­ia Ave. Boyertown, PA. 19512.

Charles served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. He left the Marine Corps at the rank of Sargent. Dutch enjoyed playing football in high school and for the Marine Corps. After his service in the Marine Corps, he continued his football career at Penn State.

During his retirement years Dutch enjoyed playing golf with the bragging rights of two “holes-in-one.” He held the title for many years as the state senior racquet ball champ. He also participat­ed in the Senior Olympics where he won many metals. He also enjoyed watching baseball and high school wrestling.Dutch was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 3 in Philadelph­ia.

Dutch was very proud of his vacation home on Tingley Lake in Harford, PA. He spent many years with his family and friends enjoying fishing and water sports. He was the “Master grounds keeper” of his property.

Charles is survived by his children, Carol J. Brong-Amick widow of the late Wayne H. Amick. Charles W., Jr. husband of Joan (Robinson) Brong. Bert R. Brong. Mary Ellen wife of Dan Bennett. William James husband of Olesa Kay (Hipple) Brong and Sandra A. Pinkavitch. He is survived by 12 grandchild­ren and 2 great-grandsons. Charles is predecease­d by his

siblings, William J. Brong and Fieta Fenicle.

Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd UCC On Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7:00-9:00 PM, and on Wednesday at church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
