Joyce England of Norristown

Joyce England (nee Shields), of Norristown, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018 at the age of 84.

Born in Lima, Ohio, on June 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Peggy and Dallas Shields.

She graduated from Bowling Green University in Ohio with a degree in Speech Therapy. There she met her husband, Jay England, and they shared 61 years of marriage. He was the love of her life. They eventually moved from Ohio to Pennsylvania where she lived in Halford Tract for over 50 years.

She worked in the office at Jeffersonville Presbyterian Church for many years. Joyce was involved with the Norristown High School Hall of Champions Program. She also volunteered for the Children’s Aid Society.

Joyce loved decorating, cooking and baking for the holidays, playing in her bridge group and most of all sewing. She was an excellent seamstress and spent hours making clothes for everyone in the family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jay England. She was the loving mother of John (Lisa) of West Norriton, Kurt (Melissa) of Monroe, Conn., and Frank (Blythe) of Gilbertsville. She was the cherished grandmother of Ashton, Zachary and Aidan. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Shields. Funeral services will be private.
