OFFICERS HIRED; PROMOTED
Plymouth Council also recognized four long-time members of the police department
“It seems like we’re here every month or so honoring a long service employee. It makes our job easy having such dedicated employees.” _ Council Chair Marty Higgins
Plymouth Township Council welcomed a new police officer and promoted a 22year veteran during Monday night’s regular meeting.
The governing body voted unanimously to hire Benjamin Brunner, a lifelong Souderton resident and Telford Borough police officer of two years as its new police officer.
Anthony Costello, a Plymouth Township police officer for the last 22 years, was promoted from detective to sergeant. Costello is a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who has served as detective since 2012. Throughout his law enforcement career, Costello has been assigned to the patrol unit, the highway unit and has served as an accident investigator and is a member of the Montgomery County and Pennsylvania Drug Taskforces.
The Council also approved resolutions recognizing Plymouth Township police officers for their years of service. Lt. Karen Mabry and Deputy Chief John Myrsiades were recognized for 30 years of
service; and Michael Capperella and Joseph Epright were recognized for 20 years of service.
In reading the resolution for Myrsiades, Councilman David Gannon said, “30 years in any business is an accomplishment and is something to be commended.”
Council Chair Marty Higgins noted that the police officers represented a combined 100 years of service.
“It seems like we’re here every month or so honoring a long service employee,” Higgins said. “It makes our job easy having such dedicated employees.”
Councilwoman Lenore Bruno commended the police for doing a “great job.”
