John J. Maginley,

John J. “Jack” Maginley, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away quietly on January 14, 2019. He was 90 years old.

Mr. Maginley was born in Norristown, PA, on April 26, 1928, and was the son of the late Harry C. Maginley and Marion I. (Conklin) Maginley.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jane E. (Freas) Maginley and two children, Thomas M. Maginley, Sr. of Oreland, PA and Linda A (Peter) Moore of Gilbertsville, PA and six grandchildren, Thomas, Jr. (Kristy), Ryan and Scott Maginley, Laura (Dave) Simpson, Lauren (Joseph) Buchak, and Amy Moore, and two greatgrandchildren, James L. and Gage Maginley. Mr. Maginley was predeceased by his oldest son, Richard P., and grandson, James B. Maginley.

He graduated from St. Patrick’s High School, Norristown, PA, Class of 1946. He was an avid baseball fan and played on St. Patrick High School’s first baseball team in 1946.

Mr. Maginley served in the Army of Occupation in Toyko, Japan as a Sergeant T-4 with the 1st Calvary Division, 8th Regiment. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation-Japan Medal and the Korean Service Medal.

Mr. Maginley was employed by E.J. Lavino & Co./Kaiser Refractories as a quality assurance and production supervisor for 31 years until plant closure in 1983.

Mr. Maginley served for 12 years a court crier for the Honorable Majorie C. Lawrence until retirement in 2008.

He enjoyed extended family vacations in Ocean City, NJ, and traveling with his wife to various areas in the USA. Their many trips to Florida usually included visits to DisneyWorld.

Mr. Maginley was a member of Visitation BVM Roman Catholic Church, Trooper, PA, the American Legion F.C. Packer Jr. Post 901, Jeffersonville, VFW Andrew Lannutti Post 18, Conshohocken, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Notre Dame Division and a past President of the West Norriton Little League, 1968.

Funeral Services will be private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Maginley’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).
