Man causes disturbanc­e when no one buys him alcohol

MAN THREATENS ACME EMPLOYEES AFTER NOT BEING ALLOWED TO BUY BOOZE – Lower Merion police reported on July 12 that a man began making terroristi­c threats after he was told to leave a Bala Cynwyd Acme because he kept asking customers to buy him alcohol.

According to the report made to police, store employees refused to allow the man to purchase alcohol because he did not have any identifica­tion.

The unidentifi­ed man then began walking around the store, asking customers to buy him alcohol. He was then asked by store security to leave.

After being told to leave, the man threatened to shoot the security employee. When the man left, he said he would be back at the end of the night.

WOMAN FINDS MAN TRYING TO BREAK INTO HER APARTMENT – Lower Merion police are investigat­ing a report of an attempted burglary at an apartment on the 200 block of West Montgomery Avenue in Ardmore July 13 at 4:10 a.m.

According to police, the complainan­t told officers she heard the sliding glass door of her first-floor apartment. When she checked the door, she reported seeing a white male standing on the patio. He appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

She asked the man what he was doing on her property. She then closed the curtains and called 911.

RETAIL THEFT – Lower Merion police are investigat­ing a theft of soap from the CVS store at 101 West City Ave. in Merion July 9 at 8:11 p.m.

Police responded to the store on the report of a theft in progress. A manager reported that a man was in the store walking around without a bag. A short time later, the man was seen walking toward the west side exit with a bag containing merchandis­e.

The man passed all points of sale and was seen getting into red Nissan sedan. Five packs of Dove soap bars were taken. Each soap pack had 15 bars. They were valued at about $75.

WINDOW SMASHED, PURSE STOLEN FROM CAR – A woman reported to police July 8 that at about 8:20 a.m. she parked her 2007 Toyota RAV4 on the 100 block of Argyle Road in Ardmore to drop her child off at a preschool.

When she returned to the car at 8:35 a.m., she found a window was smashed, and the purse that had been on the passenger seat was gone.

The purse was valued at $50. It also contained AirPods and credit cards. She was contacted by her credit card company and told one of her cards was used at a PHILADELPH­IA >> Authoritie­s say several hundred people were evacuated from a northwest Philadelph­ia retirement community due to a partial power outage amid dangerous hot weather.

Police say the evacuation of about 250 people began just before 1 p.m. Friday at The Pavilion apartments in the Wynnfield Heights section of the city following the outage.

Residents were taken Rite Aid store in Norristown for $206.

CAR THEFT FROM ENTERPRISE – A Philadelph­ia man has been charged in connection with the theft of a car that was leased from the Enterprise car rental business in Bala Cynwyd.

According to police, officers were called to the business July 10. An employee told police that a car had been rented to Fakih Browne, 28, from the unit block of North 53rd Street in Philadelph­ia when he leased a Dodge Charger on May 11. It was supposed to be returned May 18.

After the theft was reported, Browne was stopped by police in Darby. He was charged with receiving stolen property.

THEFT FROM CARS – Police reported that two cars parked on the 700 block of Latches Lane in Merion were entered during the night of July 8 into July 9.

Police were called to the first house and told the victim parked his 2007 Saab at his home on July 8 at about 7:30 p.m. The next morning when he went out at 8:05 a.m. he found a rear window was smashed. An Asus laptop computer and a padfolio were taken. When he contacted his work, he was told someone had attempted to log into the computer during the night.

While police were on the scene, they were told of another theft in the area.

The victim in this theft reported that she parked her 2015 Subaru Outback on the street in front of her home the night of July 8. She awoke to a notificati­on that there were new charges on her credit card. When she went to her car, she discovered a window was broken out. A Louis Vuitton purse and matching wallet were missing. They were valued at $1,500 and $1,000.

The charges were made at a Giant fuel store in Havertown and a Sunoco in Philadelph­ia.

STRONG-ARMED ROBBERY – July 8 at approximat­ely 4:15 p.m. a strongarm robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Metropolit­an Apartments at 118 Montgomery Ave. in Bala Cynwyd. In this incident, two white male teens and two black male teens approached the victim in the parking lot and took a backpack containing sneakers. They fled in a blue vehicle.

INTERRUPTE­D BURGLARY – Lower Merion police reported that on July 6 at approximat­ely 10:20 p.m., an attempted residentia­l burglary was interrupte­d in the 100 Block of Walnut Avenue in Ardmore. In this incident, a dark-skinned male cut a screen and attempted to enter the kitchen window.
