Humorless PC campaigners provide great comedy

In a 2006 article, John Birmingham wrote, “Political correctness [PC] has crippled the left’s sense of humour.” Since then, PC has completely destroyed it.

Left-wing orthodoxies that encourage almost anyone (except white, heterosexual males, of course) to claim victimhood have created a minefield through which most humor cannot pass without triggering someone’s explosive outrage.

Mel Brooks’ classic comedies, “The Producers” and “Blazing Saddles,” could not be made today. Deceased black comedians Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx would have to dial their repertoires w-a-y back. So would female Hispanic and black comedians Marilyn Martinez and Moms Mabley. White comic Lenny Bruce couldn’t be booked anywhere.

Accordingly, blogger Orrin Judd postulated that, today, all comedy is conservative. To that, add “or unintentional.” Although PC liberals may be humorless, they are frequently hilarious.

Following are a few newsworthy items that made me laugh, some sardonically, others ironically, a few, out loud:

• Former-VP Joe Biden is running for his party’s presidential nomination on Obama-era nostalgia, thereby encouraging his Democratic opponents to publicly “notice” stuff that went “awry” during “the most scandal-free administration in history.” Will Democratic presidential wannabes save Republicans the chore of dumping Barack Obama’s legacy into history’s landfill?

• At a 2015 symposium, presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris called 18-24-year-olds “stupid,” saying, “That is why we put them in dormitories.” Don’t Democrats depend on them, though? Doesn’t Harris want/ need votes from stupid people?

• Candidate Sen. Cory Booker announced, “I will have a woman running mate.” Candidate Pete Buttigieg told Ellen DeGeneres he would consider a female VP because it’s important “to have gender diversity and gender balance.” Both agree that a woman will be president — someday. But, if male Democratic candidates genuinely want a female president, why not just drop out now?

• When the White House weighed sending illegal aliens to sanctuary cities, liberal politicians, media and sanctuary cities/states erupted in protest. Confusing: Why didn’t they all immediately — enthusiastically — welcome illegals needing sanctuary into their self-declared sanctuary cities?

• The 2017 tax reform law capped federal deductions for state and local taxes at $10,000. Democrats, especially from hightax states, want to eliminate the cap.

But, based on the same methods Democrats always use to determine who would gain, households making more than $1million per year would get most of the benefit. Those with at least $200,000 in income would claim 94 percent. 2020 campaign theme — “Democrats: The Official Party of the 1%.”

• Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders jointly introduced the notion of “non-profit banking services” through the U.S. Postal Service to dispense sub-prime loans to people who are poor credit risks. Two socialists want a Postal Service that lost $3.6 billion last year to take on risky loans. What could possibly go wrong?

• Following the disastrous Wednesday, July 24 Mueller hearings, congressional Democrats swore they’d never(!) rest until “Trump is stopped.” Paradoxically, two days later, Housecontrolling Democrats ditched that “unwavering” commitment — and Washington – for a six-week summer recess.

For attentive, fun-loving Americans, PC Democrats are TV’s most entertaining sitcom.
