MCCC selects VP for West Campus
Therol Dix takes role after nationwide search
Montgomery County Community College has filled a leadership vacancy at the college’s West Campus in Pottstown.
Therol Dix has been named vice president of the Pottstown campus, following a nationwide search. Dix assumes her new role Monday, Sept. 23. She replaces David DiMattio, who left the position in March.
“Therol has a deep commitment to the transformative power of higher education in the life of communities,” Victoria Bastecki-Perez, MCCC’s interim president and provost, said in a statement. “She will be a champion for West Campus students, faculty and staff and communities of Pottstown and the Tri-County area.”
In her new role Dix — who has served as the college’s dean of arts and humanities since 2018 — is responsible for the overall leadership of the growth and development of the Pottstown campus, as well as the promotion of the college and its programs.
“I’m looking forward to working with the dedicated faculty and staff at West Campus and the Pottstown area community,” Dix said in a statement. “I’m excited to collaborate with community members and strengthen and grow our partnerships.”
Prior to her role as dean, Dix was a full-time instructor and co-coordinator in the mass media studies and production department at MCCC. She also taught in part-time faculty roles at MCCC and Northampton Community College. Prior to moving to academia, Dix was an assistant district attorney for Montgomery County.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s degree in communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
