Cops receive reports of thefts from vehicles

THEFTS FROM VEHICLES >> On Sept. 22, 2019 at around 6:15 p.m., township police were dispatched to the Audubon Recreation Field at Audubon Road and Pawlings Road for the report of theft from motor vehicle.

The caller reportedly advised that her window had been smashed and a purse stolen. The purse was valued at $20 but contained $150 in cash, a driver’s license and several credit cards.

While on location, police took three more reports for smash and grab thefts from the parking lot. Taken during the additional thefts were a Gold and Silver

purse, $60 cash, licenses, credit cards, US Passport, black laptop, work cell phone, and a Dooney and Bourke Mickey Mouse purse.

PUBLIC DRUNKENNES­S — Township police were dispatched to a shopping center in the 2700 block of Ridge Pike at 9:25 p.m. on Sept. 22 for the report of an intoxicate­d person.

Further informatio­n relayed that the subject was observed stumbling to a red Chevrolet Truck. Upon arrival, police found the male subject sitting in the truck. The male was immediatel­y belligeren­t and uncooperat­ive with police. Asked if he could obtain a ride home, the male was again uncooperat­ive, said police, who could detect the odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the male subject along with slurred speech. T

The male was placed under arrest for public drunkennes­s. The male was transporte­d to the Montgomery County Correction­al Facility to be housed until sober.

SCAM — Township police were dispatched on the morning of Sept. 24 to meet with a resident from Overlook Circle regarding being scammed.

The victim reported receiving an e-mail from someone purporting to be his boss and requesting he purchase $2,000 in Home Depot Gift Cards. The victim subsequent­ly purchased ten $200 Home Depot Gift Cards.

The victim realized prior to providing the gift card informatio­n to the scammer that his boss did not send the e-mail and that it was fraudulent.

SHOTS FIRED REPORT FALSE – Around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, township police were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Sparrow Road.

According to reports, officers checked the area but were unable to locate the source, although police received a pair of additional shots fired calls for the area of Sparrow Road. Police met with the second caller who relayed informatio­n about concerning statements that a neighbor’s son had made and that he may be the source.

Police located the male subject and determined the noise was coming from his vehicle backfiring in rapid succession. The male was verbally warned for the noise violation.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY — Around 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 18, township police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of North Park Ave, where a resident advised that he heard the chain lock to his back door fall and strike the door frame but did not see anyone when he checked.

Police observed no signs of attempted forced entry into the residence, it appeared that the lock was not tampered with and may have fallen after not being fully engaged.

AGGRESSIVE DOG — On Sep. 19 shortly before 10 a.m., township police were dispatched to a residence in the 3000 block of Appledale Rd. regarding a dog biting another dog.

Officers spoke with the reporting party and determined that the resident he accused of owning the dog was not the owner and that party did not witness the animal act aggressive in any way.

Police reportedly attempted to speak with the dog’s owner but were unable to make contact.

VANDALISM — On Sept. 19 at 4:24 p.m., township police were dispatched to a business in the 2600 block of Ridge Pike on for the report of vandalism.

The victim, a representa­tive from a local union, had been conducting protests in the area of the business. As part of their protests they had a large inflatable Rat in the public right of way. The victim observed the Rat, valued between and $4,000 and $5,000, deflating at a rapid rate and observed a male running quickly from the inflatable Rat and into a matte black Jeep Cherokee.

SCAM — Township police met with a resident from the 5000 block of Edward Lane on Sept. 21 regarding a fraud incident. The resident/victim advised she responded to a text message offering a job. The victim reported receiving a check in the mail for $5,000. The alleged scammer requested she deposit $1,000 for one week of pay and send back $4,000 by money order.

The female complied and the check failed to clear.

PUBLIC DRUNKENNES­S — At 7:21 p.m. on Sept. 22, township police were dispatched to the 100 block of Level Road for the report of an intoxicate­d female.

Police were reportedly familiar with the female as she had called 911 multiple times prior to this call and had been heavily intoxicate­d and warned.

As police approached the female, she reportedly began rambling incoherent­ly and was placed under arrest for public drunkennes­s and transporte­d to the Montgomery County Correction­al Facility to be housed until sober.

Police issued a nontraffic citation for public drunkennes­s

ROAD RAGE – Township police were able to locate both drivers in an alleged road rage case reported on Sept. 21 at 7:23 p.m. in the area of South Trooper and Egypt roads.

It was reported by the caller that he flashed his high beams at a passing vehicle, who in turn, threw an item at his vehicle. There were no visible damage to the vehicle and the other involved subjects denied throwing any items, instead, alleging they had been cut off by the caller.

RUNAWAY — On Sept. 22, close to 1:30 p.m., township police were dispatched to a facility in the 1300 block of Pawlings Road for the report of a runaway juvenile.

The male had reportedly fled the facility through a door in their nursing suite. Staff was unable to follow the juvenile off the property due to existing policy.

Police checked the area with negative results.
