Sunday Concert series continues at Centre Theater; first up is Tony Wastler

NORRISTOWN >> The Sunday Concert Series at Centre Theater presents Tony Wastler on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 3 p.m.

Wastler, clarinetist-saxophonist-flutist, all woodwinds, tenor and conductor, will perform compositions by Paul Hindemith, Ludwig van Beethoven and many more.

Wastler studied music performance and education at Gettysburg College, Temple University, the University of Miami and Peabody Conservatory of the John Hopkins University.

He has been a clarinet student of Anthony Gigliotti (Philadelphia Orchestra) and Ignatius Gennusa (Baltimore and Chicago Symphony Orchestras) and has taught music in Pennsylvania public schools for 37 years and has recently retired as instrumental music teacher in the School District of Philadelphia.

He has been a member of The United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C., and has performed as clarinetist and soloist with the Newark Symphony Orchestra, DE, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony Orchestra, Georgetown University Orchestra, the Montgomery County Concert Band, Virginia Grand Military Band, Alexandria VA, the Merion Concert Band, Doylestown Symphonic Winds,

Bucks County Community College Band, and the Philadelphia Wind Symphony.

Wastler has been the music director of the Marple Newtown Community Band for the past 10 years. He currently teaches privately and is a substitute teacher in the School of District of Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Area Public, Parochial and Private Schools. He is a member of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church where he is in the Chancel Bell Choir, the Chancel Choir and Soloist.

The Centre Theater is located at 208 DeKalb St., Norristown.
